The historic naturalistic path "Mario Franzosi"

Description

Behind the Scaliger Castle, close to the sports facilities, there is the Historic Naturalistic Path "Mario Franzosi", a nature park that winds along the banks of the river Tione and up to Gerla, halfway between Villafranca and Valeggio.

Here are some ruins of the Serraglio, the ancient defensive wall built in 1345 by Cangrande II.

In the park you can admire some species of animals including mallards and moorhens, and various species of trees including linden, maple and ash.

It is the ideal place for sports and interesting and relaxing walks in the open air.
