County fair of Saint Peter and Saint Paul

The county fair dates back to 1714, during the reign of the Most Serene Republic of Venice. As an attempt to overcome an economic crisis, a big market used to be held on June 29th, day of the patron saints of Villafranca Saint Peter and Saint Paul.

Over the centuries the fair has been changing: from being only a market to taking religious connotation and becoming an important meeting point.

The county fair is held at the end of June and lasts about a week: during this time Villafranca becomes a pole of attraction for people from Verona, Brescia and Mantua. At the fair all kind of products can be found, as well as cultural festivals and a fun fair.

Fireworks mark the end of the county fair.
