Sfogliatina di Villafranca

In 1870, Marcello Fantoni created the recipe of the ‘sfogliatina of Villafranca’. Simple, friable and delicate, this ring-shaped cake, characterized by the fragrance of butter and sugar, became the dessert of festive occasions and celebrations.

Its sweetness conquered the heart of some illustrious customers of the café, including Berto Barbarani, Renato Simoni, Gabriele D’Annunzio, who dedicated to it some verses and poems.

 

Now as then, the ‘sfogliatina’ is sought after and appreciated and it is the ideal dessert for every circumstance.
